ANNUAL SPORTS AT BERES-FORD-STREET SCHOOL.

The annuel athletic sports in connection with this school were held On Friday, 23rd instant, in the Domain, Very few persons were present, only the teachers, and those scholars interested in the races, The following are the races with the results :— 100 yds. race, under 12 years; prize, Set of Studs.—W. Wright, 1; J. Reed, 2. Siamese Bace; prize, 2 penknives,—W. Wright and J. Ridings. 100 yds. Race, over 12 years; prize: Fieldglass.—H. Bidings, 1; J. Munro, 2. Infant's Race ; prize : Noah's Ark,—E. Wright, 1. 150 yds. Race, for the School Cup.—J. Munro, 1; H. Hidings, 2. One Mile Kacc; prize : Pair of Boots (presented by Mr Carter).-E. Wright, 1 ; R. McMaster, 2. Half Mile Race; prize : Inkstand.— W. Wright, 1; J. Carr, 2. 200 yds. Race ; prize : Tool-chest.—H. Ridings, 1; J. Munro, 2. Walking Match, 2 miles; prize, Cricket Bat.—A. Fargie, 1; E. Mendleson, 2. This race was the most exciting of the day, and was won by about three yards. Girls' Race, 100 yds.; prize, Work-box.—F. Greatbatch, 1. Quarter-mile Race; prize, Writ ing-deßk.—it. McMastcr, 1; J. Rule, 2. Long Jump; prize.Flute.—Won by A.Goldwater. Girls' Skipping Race, 100 yds.; prize, Silver Locket and Necklace—Won by Emily Boberts. Mr Wright, member of City Schools Committee, was on the ground, and assisted the teachers in setting off the races.
