BOXING-DAY EXCURSIONS.
The r.b, Rose Casey, the property of Mr Wickens, made an excursion to Waiwera and Mahurangi Heads, which, with the exception of an accident recorded in another column, was exceedingly pleasant. About 300 persons, including children, were on board, aud everything was done by Mr Wickens, Captain Somervillo, and Mr Howard, the steward, tbat could possibly be done for the comfort and convenience of passengers. Hunter's band performed a number of popular airs during ths voyage. Many of the passengers had the pleasure of witnessing the Mahurangi Regatta, which was earned on with much spirit. The ladies' race was especially interesting, the competitors displaying a thorough knowledge of the bracing exercise. The excursionists reached Queen-street Wharf about half-past nine o'clock, tho band playing " Homo, Sweet Home."
