THE DEPORTED NATIVES.

On Friday tho 18th November last, tho Government removed some 260 natives from Patihaka and placed them on the north bank of the Waitara, where is supposed to be their homes. The few natives around have but little food—scarce any potatoes and no pigs—for the large number of people suddenly thrown upori them, and the' Government have mado no provisions nor supplied any food. It is against the nature ot the Maoris to beg food from the Government, and they allege the Government were aware of the scarcity, and could have, pro* vided without being naked. Some European settlers have contributed potatoes and flour.
