HARBOUR BOARD.

The following abstract completes our report of the Board's meeting yesternay afternoon. , ' Referred to Committees.—The letters of Mr Errington, re iron dock, of the Secretary of iho Union Sash and Door Co., release of reserve, and of the Chief Harbour Master, re disagreement * with engineer, were referred to the Works Committee, while Mr 6. Aickin's letter, with the offensive portions expunged, was •.-eceived. The Committee's reports were adopted. Removal of, Old T.—The lollowing tenders were received for the removal of tho old T.—Young and Thwaites, £224; Mercer and Marshall, £187 ; B. White, £184. The Engineer's estimate was £130. The tender of R. White was accepted. Committee Business.—Mr Thompson moved in pursuonce of notice, " That it be an instruction to the committee in future to take no business beyond that referred to them by the Board unless in the opinion of the committee such business be of an urgent nature, and requiring immediate attention; further, that all referred Committee business be notified on the notices to members of the committee. '—Mr J. M. Clark moved as an amendment, " That after the words ' no' [business] the words ' action other than to report to the Board on any ' [business] be inserted. —It was not seconded. Mr atone moved, and it was seconded, " that the former mode ot conducting that business should be continued, as it was satisfactory."—After some discussion the motion was put and lost, whereupon Mr Thompson moved as an amendment upon Mr Stones proposition (now the substantive resolution) " That it be an instruction to committees in future to take no business beyona that referred to them by this Board, unless in the opinion of the Chairman and Secretary
