TWO TRAINS WRECKED.

Macon, Mo., March 4,

The passonger train on the Hannibal and ft. Joseph ltailroad, which left here at 3 o'clock yesterday morning, was thrown from the tmck just this side of Berier, six miles west of this city, by a broken rail. The engine, tender, baggage car aud two coaches wore thrown down the embankment, 10 feet high. They were all badly demolished,except the smokingcar.in which were forty-nine emigrant passengers, forty of whom were women and childrcu. This coach kept an upright position, but ploughing its way into the ground some distance from the track. The other passenger car and one sleeper were thrown from the track, lirst being turned over, while only the forward trucks of the rear sleeper went oil. In the last cur the pa&sengcw were not awakened by the accident, and only learned thereof when Borne ot the wouuded were taken in. There were nearly one hundred passeugers on the train, and that no lives were lost aud so few injured is remarkable. As soou as possible after the wreck a wrecking train left Hrookiield, thirty-four miles west of Macou, for the scene of tho accident, but as a train it did not reach its destination. About thirteen miles cast of Brooklield tho engine and two Hat cars crossed Brush Creek bridge safely, but the wracking car proper—tho enboose aud the passenger coach—on which were physicians and other citizeus of Erooklicld, coming to the passenger wreck, broke through and went down thirty feet in a mass of brolcen timbers aud maimed humanity. Of those on the curs which went down, Dr Wood, of Brooklield, Frank Locke and George Zewick of Uaunibal, Mo., anil four ethers were killed, and of lifty persons on the train no one escaped without injury. No train has passed oust or west since tho accident.
