After the certificates aud prizes had been awarded, Mr N. Heath (the principal) took occasion to make a few remarks. After explaining that although three plays of Shakespeaio had been taken, only two were studied, cm the priuciple of doing a little, and that little well, the gentleman went on to say that, with one or two exceptions, the girls had behaved well, aud his authority had always been supported by his stall', fciomc girls had douc too much school work at home ; if they had too many lessons or too few they should speak to him frankly. He had to thank the scholars for their behaviour and attention, and the teachers for their co-operation and assistauce. There was another pleasing duty which he had to perform, and that was to thank Mrs Clark .for presenting the prizes, the Chairman for presiding, and His Lordship Bishop Cowic, aud other gentlemen who had addressed tbe gathering. Mr Heath then invited the ladies to proceed to the dining-room and I inspect the needle-work of the lower school
