THE BAND IN ALBERT PARK.
(To tho Editor.)
Sir,—lv theso dull times when littlo or no amusement ia obtainable, I think wo should be very grateful to tho Engineer Baud for voluntarily playing last evening in tho Albert Park reserve I trust they will continue to do bo during tho summer evenings two or thrco times weekly, and that au early opportunity will be taken by tho public to mark their appreciation in a substantial manner. Ere long, it is to be hoped wo shall also havo a covered pavilion for them; alao, seats, trees, aud shruba, etc , planted, and the wholo reserve open to tho public. Tho City Council, who hove now tho munngement, should not consent to any further delay in tho removal of that old and ugly wood barracks, which prevents the. completion of laying out, planting, nnd fencing this pleasant rcsorvo, and will continue to do so for years unless an effort ia mado to complete the objcctforwhlohit was obtained. It is stated the Council have tho money to complete the work, nnd let us trust we shall have it at once finished in a manner worthy of our city.—Yours, " Carpe Diem."
