Mr Pitts, M.H.R., at Nelson.
[BY TELEGRAPH, OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
NELSON, this day. Mr Pitt, M.H.K., addressed tho city electors last night. After referring to the work of the past scpsion, he gave the Government credit for honestly endeavouring to place tho finances of the colony on a sound basis, and expressed his belief that the colony had a great future. He thought the public works scheme bad. The high wages paid attracted miners and others, but now those would turn their attention to mining and other industries. He would not vote for the introduction of the Bible into the schools, even if such was shewn to be the desire ot a majority of the colonists. He did not think it necessary to fill the vacancy caused by •Sir Julius Vogel's letirement. Mr Pitt received a vote of thanks and confidence.
