REQUISITION TO J. McCOSH CLARK, ESQ.
This aitcrnoon a deputation, consisting of Messrs D. Nathan, B. Tonks, G. B. Uwen, L. D. Nathan, K. Whitson, Jolin Chamber% R. W, Hammond, William Lodder, F. E. Compton, John Kirkwood, F. Schcrff, Joseph Potter, A. H. Nathan, Thomas Morrin, A. K. Isaacs, I!. Tanner, and Captain Hellander proceeding to Clark and Co.'s warehouse for the purpose of presenting him with an influential]}'• signed requisition inviting him to stand for the Mayoralty of the City. Mr Clark was found to be absent at a Board of Education meeting, and the gentlemen who were courteously received by Mr A. Clark, therefore left their cards us well as the requisition before taking their leave. The fallowing is a transcript of the requisition :—"Auckland, New Zealand, 20th November, 1880, to James McCosli Clark, Esq. Dear Sir, —We, the undersigned, citizens of Auckland, have the honour to request that you will allow yourself to be placed on nomination for the mayoralty of this city and in the event of a contest hereby pledge our votes and interest in your behalf. : \Vc have, etc, dear sir, yours faithfully. [Upwards of 120 signatures wore appended,] Mr Clark will doubtless send a written1 reply. •
