Sad Case of Drowning.
AROY named George Whaley, aged 8 years and 6 months, was drowned at Cox's Creek yesterday afternoon under circumstances of a most' distressing nature. Ho had been sent with his brother, who is twelve years Old, to gather titree pea-sticks at Cox's Creek, and while thus engaged he acoidently fell into the water. His brother saw him rise to the surface three times, but could not render any assistance. He'hastened home as quickly as possible, and informed, hlj3 father of the accident. They returned to the spot, and the body was taken out'of. the water shortly before dusk. Life was then quite extinct The police were at, once communicated with, and information of thti occurrence was forwarded to the coroner. Au inquest was held upon the remains this afternoon, when a verdict of "Accidentally Drowned" was returned. Ihe funeral topic ploce subsequently, and unionist the mourners were a number of children who attend the Wesleyan Sunday-school, of which the deceased was a pupil. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents.
