Alleged Gold Discovery at Palmerston.

A PROSPECTING PARTY SETS OUT
PALMEIiSTON NOKTH, this day. A test party, organised and equipped by the people of Palmerston, started for the locality of the alleged gold reef at daybreak this morning. Tho party consisted of Moss, tho discoverer of the reef, Kobert Hendorson, a veteran quartz miner, who has had years of experience in Australia and New Zealand, and holds such a position iv town as will make his testimony thoroughly reliable, and others leading packliorses (of which there are four). Henderson takes provisions for a month, besides blasting-powder and drills, and all appliances for thoroughly testing tho rock. Although the locally is Only eight miles from Palrnerston, so wiudiug is the coursi and diilieult the track, that the journey occupies two days. The goods are packed as far as Knowles' Camp. The remainder of the jouruey of live miles is made on foot. The intention of Henderson is to get about four hundred weight of stone as quickly as possible, which will be swagged down to Knowles' Camp and then packed to Palmerston. Moss, the prospector, cays the reef will pay four ounces to the ton.
