Returning Ofllcer. City Coudcll Offices, Auguat 31nt, 18^0. _____ Blootion Notices. TO THE ELECTOKS OF CITY EAST WARD. Ladies and Gentlemen.— I solicit your Vote on the following grounds :— I feel wo require moro energetic men in tho Counoil to represent our interests, and therefore oirer my services a<i Councillor for your Ward.. Wo need the Waterworks Tariff revjaod, bo tha r. it may b« in tho power of both rich and poor to tako it in, and thereby increase the revenue therefrom. Wo want Tramways through our City and Suburbs, but not at tho expense of the Ratepayers. Ixt the City Council give overy facility for private Companion to Blare and carry them out* Wo require also Tramways upon tho Wharf, so that shippers and importers may ba enabled to obtain their good* without tho great e-ponso and delay as at present, and which would also avoid tho excessive wear and liar of the wharf. We require tho City Endowments to be well gone into, »a they can bo tho means of reducing our rates coDßidcrably if proporly managod. I believo that if tho Polioa wore under Municipal Government instoßd of tho General Government, it would be the means of ohecking tho overbearing persecution which has of late too often boen the oasa with respectable citizens. 1 believe in holoing tho Council Meetings by day and not at night, aa a stving of £150 a year in light and extra salaries wou.d be the omseqUiei>alß#Hblnk. from the conflicts exhibited betwoen Council and Harbour Board, that; one body could efficiently work both in Committee. I would endeavour to have tho Koads from Queon-strcet to the Station cleared and repaired. It would be a lasting boon conferred on the community if the Hy laws relating to Cabs and Expresses wore revised, and a fair (instead of exorbitant) tariff of charges adopted for* the future. And lastly, We require our City Boundaries extended so nfl to include Newton, Poosonby, Graf ton, Newmarket, and Parnell; and in all fairness to tho people in those districts, let the rates collected in each be spoot therein. Then in size and population our city will stand tie most important in the Colony. Klectors, these are my opinions. If they meet with your approval, then place mo at tho top of the poll. I am, Electors. JTaithfuliy joure, JAMKS P. KING. TO THE ELECTORS OF EAST WARD, CITY OF AUCKLAND.
