COROMANDEL, this day. ROYAL Oak.—The manager reports on No. I reef, eastward of stopes, that the ground has been very hard, The reef continues strong, shewing the usual indications of gold. From the new reef in No. 2 block wc have obtained a fow pounds of picked stone and a fair quantity of crushing stuff. The contractor for No 7 level commenced operations with the drilling machinery last night. Royal Oak Tributes.—Rhode and party are sending 50 tons to Corby battery. They havo about 201bs of specimens on hand. Hornibrook will start crushing at the Bismark battery to-day. Wells and Bennett are getting a little gold in a branch from the All Nations' leader. Tho leader is small, and I believe will pay for taking out Edwards aud party have driven 60 feet without any result Knox and Parkins are doing dead work.

GRAHAMSTOWN, Saturday,

Southern Cross.—The new reef discovered yesterday in the face of the hill at the back of the Big Pump is 6iu. thick, and runs through tho entire length of the ground ; but owing to its having a flat undorlay, it drops into the Kuranui mine before going down far. A drive will bo put in next week to intersect it. About 501bs of good specimens were obtained from the Kuranui Hill. No. 1 lode in tho 360 feet level is now two feot thick, and has a more promising appearance. Not much gold is seen in the specimen leader in the stopes of the Caledonian. The reef iv the eastern workings of No. 3 level is looking well for gold, as it is risen upon. A contract was let to-day for sinking a winze from No. 2 level. TheMoanataiari crushed 325 tons of stone during tho fortnight for 313 ounces of gold. GOLD YIELD. The total return of gold lodged to-day is 3820z5; for the month, 5,0990z5. This day. Thk Southern Cross arc driving upon the leader from which specimens were obtained last week, but have not broken quartz this mornins. The manager intends to put through a crushing at tho Alburnia battery near the end of the week. Moanatairi.— The mauager has commenced to put up a rise ou tne big reel in the south cross- cut in the tunnel level. The Nonpareil cross-cut was driven twenty-five feet last week through tho tight country. WllAU.—Crushing started again with 10 head at the Herald battery this morning. The manager hopes to keep them constantly going now. Work iv the low level is resumed on good stone.
