MONDAY'S ATHLETIC SPORTS.
Up to the hour of our going to press the following peds had entered for the Great Handicap Race to be held on Monday at the Ellerslie Gardens, viz :—J. Taylor, E. McGinlcy, 11. McGinlcy, R. Gault, P. McCarthy, J. Dore, L. C. Gongh, J. O'Connor (champion), K. Long, F. Dalton, P. Jones, and J. Spry. The list of entries will not close till G o'clock this evening, aud it is expected that fully eighteen moro persons will give in their names. The event is to comprise six dislauces, viz , 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and GOO yards, and the scoring will be in tho usual manner, by poiuts. The prize money offered by Mr Graham is very liberal, and we therefore trust to see a large attendance at the Gardens and a successful result to the sports. The prizes are as follow -. —lst prize, silver cup and 20 eovs. ; 2nd prize, silver cup and 6 spvs. ; Svfi. prize, silver cup and 3 soys. ; 4th prize, silver cup and 1 soy. ; slh prize, silver cup, The value of tho cups is £13, and tho winner has tho option of accepting them with the other money, or of having the whole of his gains in hard cash. The handicaps will be declared to-night.
