The Hannah Mokau Wreck.
Boat Capsized-—Four Men Drowned-

WAITARA, this day. A HOAT manned by seven hanils left the railway wharf for Mokau at 4.30 this morning with the necessary ccar for launching tbe Hannah Mokau. Whilst crossing tbe bar here she filled and foundered, four of the bauds being drowned, viz., Benjamin Gollop, Harry Tate, Fred Archer, and Geo. Turrell. Gollop leaves a wife and three children, Tate was only four mouths married, Archer and Turrell were lately seamen on board the schooner Nelson.
NEW PLYMOUTH, this day.
A boat, the Long Annie, left Wnitara this morning for Mokau, loaded with gear for launching the steamer Hannah Mokau. Whilst crossiug the bar she went under a wave aud burst apart. Seven men were on board—three reached the shore in safety. The names of them are : W. Sarter, Oscar Dugdat", and A. Harris. The names of those drowned are : F. Archer, mate of the Hannah Mokau, Geo, Tuirell, late seaman of the schooner Nelson, B, Gollop, and H, Tate, settlers. The accident happened at 5 a.m., aud was witnessed by Messrs Pluck and Baker, who procured a boat nnd pulled across the rivor. They saw two men in the suit clingiug to oars, but were unable to render them assistance. Fragments of tho boat, a briar pipe, and one body has been washed ashore. Messrs Holmes and Son fortunately went overland yesterday. Tho boat was completely destroyed.
A BODY RECOVERED,
Archer's body came ashore at 10 a.m, No others aro yet recovered.
