WELLINGTON, this day. On the charge of perjury against Mr Kinross, of Napier, coming on to-day, Sir William Fitzherbert's reply to Mr Rees' letter was read. Mr Rees had asked jthat officers of. the Legislative .Council oUouM be permitted b,y the, Speaker tjq give evidence anrt ■produce documents in'CbSir;t. V The Speaker declined to grant the authority askdd; and quoted May in" support of his action. The case was then dismissed. Mr Rees'said this confirmed him in the opinion' that the House haa no powerto|p_rotect witiieases frpm a charge of" perjury. All documents connected with the case are to ■be placed in possession of the R.M., and Mr Rees will present a petition1 to the both Houses of Parliament, asking that the documents might be handed into Parliament at the bar of the HouSe.
