LADIES BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
The twenty-secend annual meeting of theLadies Benevolent Society was held this afternoon in the V.M.C.A. llooms. The report and balance sheet were read, and showed that the total receipts had been £525, and the expenditure had been £425, leaving a balance of £100. Mr J. B. .Russell took the chair, in the absence of Mr Gillies, who was detained at the Supreme Court, and, at the request of the secretary, read the report, which was adopted by the meeting. The following is the committee appointed for the ensuing year:—President, Mis Philson ; treasurer, Mrs Gillies ; secretary, Mrs Aickin ; Mestlames.Aickin, Beveridge, Carrick, Green, Gillies, Hay, Kenderdine, Morley, and Messrs Macffarlane, Philson, Purchas, Peacock, Powell, .Russell, Miss Smith, Miss Warner, aud Mrs Webb. Mr Macffarlane moved that the names mentioned be the committee for the year. This was seconded by Mr Thorne, and carried.
