ARRIVAL OF THE MAZEPPA FROM RAROTONGA.
' The regular island trading Bchooner,Mazeppa arrived from a cruiso last evening, btingint? a cargo of fruit, is'tand produce, &c, and a number of passengers, including the captain and crew of the schooner Talisman, which was ■wrecked at Aitutaki. During the passage up the infant chili! of Mrs J. Crulckshank died from croup. We are indebted to Captain Garraway for the following report :—Left Auckland on the 22nd of November at six o'clock a.m., with a fresh S.W. breeze, which lasted for i days, when the wind veered to the N.E., and from thence light with fine weather until making Ilarotonga on the 7th of December at 7 a.m., and arriving at 6 p.m. the same day. the passage occupying 15 days. Discharged all cargo, and tool: in part cargo for Auckland, and lefr" Rarotonga on the 16th December for Auckland via Aitutaki; arrived at Aitutaki on the 17th ; took in 500 crates of oranges, and left for Auckland on the 19>b, with light East winds, which continued for three days, when the wind incraftsod to a moderate breeze, with fine weather, which carried her to the Kermadec Group, when N.W. winds and thick weather was experienced until making the New Zealand Coast on Monday, 30th, when the wing suddenly veered to the S.W., and from thence to arrival at 5 pm. Passage from land to land 10 days; up to arrival 14 days. Passengers :—Mr H. Nicholas, wfe, and two sons, Mrs J. Crmckshankand ci-ild, Mrs Garraway. Mr and Miss Karnukia. Mcsrs H. Reynolds, Job, T. L. Spinney, G. Oxloy, O. Hecht, Captain Jauson, and Captain Trayte, mate and steward of tho schooner Talisman.
The s.s. Taupo arrived from the South at one o'clock this -Tioming. Passengers:—Messrs Cochrane, Cook. Cornish, Berry, Beaton, Wricioy, Campbell. Richmond, Mc^dmnes Taylor, Aourn, White, Hamer, Burton, Wrisloy, Buchanan, Gill, Chalk, Vanprrcmont, Gardiner, Justice Kichmond. Drs.
