POLICE COURT.—This Day.

Drunkenness. —Two men and two women were punished for this offence.

Vagrancy.—Henry Malone was charged with being a habitual drunkard. Fined 20s and costs or a fortnight's imprisonment with hard labour, with one week additional, this having been his third offence within three months.—lsaac Bryant was similarly charged, but the police not pressing the charge, he was only fined 10s and costs or in default 4S hours imprisonment with hard labour.—Johanna Leaning "was also charged with vagrancy. She pleaded not guilty to being a rogue and a vagabond, but admitted tho previous convictions. His Worship said she had been ten times convicted of drunkenness within the last 12 months. Sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour.

Indecent Behaviour.—John Whittle was charged with this olt\;nce. and pleaued Kuilty. Mr Pardy said prisoner had been in custody several days, ana he would not press tho charge. Discharged with a caution.

Bkkacu of thk Pkace.—John Hamilton was charged with behaving in apublia place, uueenstrect wharf, whereby a breach of the peace was occasioned. He was also changed with assaulting Constable Mogan in tho execution of his duty.—Mr Laishley appeared for prisoner, and pleaded guilty to both charges. Prisoner, with other youog men, were on the night in question having what was called a "spree," without intent to do any harm. He wouid ask his Worship to lake into consideration tho fact that it was a holiday, and the young man was drunk at tho time, and remembered nothing of the occurrence.—Hia Worship said, for tho first otfonce, tho pri3Onor would be fined 203 and costs, or seven days' imprisonment, with ha=d labor: and for the second offence, 40s and costs, or in default. 11 days' imprisonment with hard labor, and 14 days additional.

Obstructing thk Police.—William Small "was charged with obstructing the polid while in tho execution of their duty.—Prisoner pleaded not guilty.—Sub-Inspector Pardy said thi3 case arose out of the last one.—Constables Hogan and Ivens deposed to small knocking against them while arresting Hamilton, and crying, ''Let him go,"—Prisoner eaid he did know the police. They were in plain clothes. He had no intention of rescuing Hamilton.—Fined 20s and costs, or in default Beven days imprisonment with hard labour.

Larceny—Henry Niccol was charged with the larceny of £10 from the dwelling-house of ( John Adams on December 28.—Sub Inspectors Pardy said prisoner had only been arrested yesterday, and Borne of the money had not been recovered. He would therefore apply for a remand for a week.—Mr Tyler appeared for prisonei and asked that bail be allowed.—His Worship said he would refuse bail, some of the money not having been recovered. Stkalinq from the Person.—Mary Ant O'Brien was charged with the larceny of £2 from the person of Kdwavd Tolmer.—Sut Inspector Pardy said that although strong(• suspected, the polico had found that accusd waa not the person who had committed tb robbery.
