We are glad to find that tie feeling of dissatisfaction created by tiie one-sided character of the Committee originally chosen by the Waste Lands Board for the conservation of Mount Eden has, by the prompt action of the Government in response to the representations of Mr Tole, M.H.R., on the subject, been entirely set at rest. The Committee nominated by the Lands Board comprised, it will be remembered, the Chairmen of two local Highway Boards, and Messrs Firth, Owen, aud Bectham, all of whom are residents on the eastern side of the mountain, thus leaving the inhabitants on the whole of the western side totally uuconsidered and unrepresented. To remove this manifest unfairness the Government, at the suggestion of Mr Tole, have, we understand, added to the names of the Committee previously mentioned, those of Jii.s Worship the Mayor and Messrs Harper and Bridgeman. This we consider to be a fairly representative Board of Management, and will, we have no doubt, give satisfaction to the public by whom Mount Edeuis regarded as an object of special interest.
