POLICE COURT.—THIS DAY.

(Before R. C. Barstow Esq., KM.) Victims of the Glass.—Robert Sargent and Anne Swift were fined 10s for drunken ness.

Hastening Down. —Arthur Dransfield, sth offence, was found drunk by the wayside.—Seven days' imprisonment with hard labour.

Mother and Daughter.—Ann Shiels and Sarah Ann Shiels, daughter of Ann, were again brought up, chai'gedwith offences under the Vagrant Act.—These prisouers were remanded from Saturday for the purpose of taking evidence in favour of prisoners. —Sub-Inspector Pardy said two of the men named by the youngerprisoner could not be found, except Tom Purcell, who said he would attend, but did not intend to marry her tor all that.—Tom Purcell was called outside the Court, but was not present. — His Worship asked the younger prisoner if she wished Purcell to attend ; she replied "yes."—The prisoners were put back until Purcell should be brought up by warrant. Neglecting to pay up.—Two persons were charged with neglecting to pay towards the support of their children in the Industrial Home ; but as small deposits had been paid on account of arrears, the cases were adjourned until January of the new year. Alleged Larceny.—Benjamin Bennett, and William Middleton were charged with stealing 6 hides, 12 pairs of uppers, 12 brushes, and other property, value £12, on the 29th ultimo, the property of Messrs Gittos and Sons, of Wyndham-street. SubInspector Pardy said that one of the men was in the employ of Messrs Gittos, and had robbed his employers to a considerable extent.—Remanded until the 9th inst.

i. Sunday Drinking.—George Robsonwas charged with a breach of the Licensing Act by supplying alcoholic liquor to several persons in the Newmarket Hotel, on Sunday, the 17th November.—Mr. S. Heskefch asked for an adjournment until Monday next, in order that Mr E. Hesketh might appear in defence.—His Worship said he did not think the Court had power to grant an adjournment, and if it had the power the defendant must pay the expenses of the witnesses in attendance.—The five witnesses weie called —C. Kennedy, H. Carter, J. Chippin, W. C. Jervis, and D. J. Ball; and said they would not claim any expenses. —Remanded until Tuesday next. Wandeeing Horse.—Henry McGinn was fined 5s and costs, on account of his horse, found in Napier-street. Assault Case.—A person named Grace was charged with attempting to injure a chapel, but the charge was withdrawn on defendant's promise to repair the weatherboards.
