Clause 10, and so much of Regulation No. 1» made in pursuance_ of By-Law No. 1 of the City of Auckland, fixing the Fares for Hackney Carriages, is hereby repealed. 2. The rates cf Fares for the conveyance of passengers by hackney carriages shall be those which are mentioned hereunder, and the said rates of Fares shall be the greatest amount which it shall be lawful for any owner, driver, or conductor, plying with any hackney carriage for hire within the limits stated in this By-Law, to charge, demand, receive, and take. 3. The distance for which any charge shall be made shall be computed from the stand, or place where the carriage waß hired. 4. The Rates of Fares to be paid for Haokney Carriages shall be as follows :— Within a Radius of Ten Miles from the General Post-offce, Auckland. fares by time. s. d. For Licensed Carriages drawn by One Horso, for each hour 3 6 For Licensed Caniages drawn by more than One Horse, for each hour .. ..50 If taken out of the City, Return Fare to stand at the rate of six (6) miles an hour chargeable. No agreement made with the owner or driver of any hackney carriage for the payment for the hire thereof of more than the proper sum limited by the By-Law in that behalf shall be binding on the person making the same, and every owner or driver of a hackney carriage who exacts or demands for the hire thereof more than suoh proper sum, whether in pursuance of. any such agreement or not, t-hail forfeit a sum not exceeding forty shillings, and the adjudicating Justice may, upon the hearing, order in addition, that such owner or driver pay to party aggrieved the amount of such overcharge if paid.
