{PER STAR SPECIAL WIRE). WELLINGTON, this day. PASSENGERS PER ROTORUA. The Mayor of Auckland is a passenger by the Rotorua, which left at 1.30 p.m. MR LUCKIE. Mr Luckie will probably commence business at once on the "Post" by arrangement. Mr Anderson assumes the editorship of the "Chronicle" in a fortnight. £3,000 FOR THE IMPROVEMENT COMMISSIONERS. The Mayor of Auckland has succeeded in obtaining £3,000 for the Improvement Commissioners. He has also arranged for the balance of money granted to the Mechanic's Institute t« be paid over immediately. An authority for payment has been forwarded by steamer to-day.
