ENDOWMENT COMMISSIONERS.

A preliminary meeting of the Endowment Commissioners was held this af ternqoiPresent: Messrs Campbell, Tole, Dilworth, May, and Shera. On the motion of Mr May, seconded by Mr Tole, Dr.- Campbel. was elected to be Chairman, and^ Messrs Tole, Dilworth, and the Chairman were appointed a Committee to draw up regulations. On the motion of Mr Dilworth, seconded by Mr May, it was decided that tbe Board s money should be placed in the Bank of New" Zealand. Two applications for the secretaryship to the Board were allowed to stond over. Mr Tole made a statement relative to the position of the.Board relating to the reserves of the district: Land set apart for educational purposes, 34,561 acres ; of which 384 • acres 3r. 1 perch aire classed as town lands:: 996a Ir 2p as suburban lands ; aud 33,180a oi-7p as rural lands. In apportioning the acreage the arbitrators have allotted : of the town lands, 283a Or 14p for primary education, 101a 3r 7p for secondary education ; of suburban lands, 749a Or 4p for primary education, 247a Or 38p for secondary education; of rural lands, 24,636a lr 26p for primary education, 8,544a 2r 21p for secondary education. The Board has therefore a total area of 25,667a 2r 4p for primary education aud 8,593a 2r 26p for secondary education. STATEMENT OF EDUCATION RESERVES LEASED.
