WHATA\VKATA, Wednesday. The polling here caused considerable interest. Major Te Wheoro and Mr / Dufaur cam* down in the steamer with a / party of Maoiis, who recorded a block vote for McMinn. The totals were • McMinn, 34; Whitaker, 11.

The analysis of the voting shows that after deducting the preponderance of Auckland votes, Mr McMinn has been elected by a genuine Waikato vote, and is to be complimented upon the result, which is another victory achieved by the Government. It is due to Mr Whitaker to allude to the handsome support given him by Hamilton voters, as it shows the respect in which he is held in his own particular district, and the high esteem of those who know most about him. Mr McMinn personally has throughout the election acted in an upright, gentlemanly manner, and will go down to the House of Assembly with the confidence, not only of his own supporter.-, but of the bulk of the Waikato community.
