PITT-STREET WESLEYAN SCHOOL MEETING.
SUNDAY-
THE annual tea and public meeting in connection with the Pitt-street Wesleyan Sundsyschool was held last evening. The attendance at the tea and public meeting was the most meagre we have spen for years; indeed there wna only a poor sprinkling. It was disheartening to s%e the Tho tea-tables were amply spread, and presided over by Mrs Wiseman, Misses Somerville, Mrs W. S. WiUson, Mrs" Cookc, Mrs Kirk, Miss Nicholson, Miss Sharland, Mesdames Henderson and Spraggon, Mrs W. Winstone, Mrs George Winstono. Mrs John Gittos, Mrs Burton, Mrs F. Phillips \ the school furnishing two trays. Mr In om as MoMaster occupied the chair, and delivered a careful and encouraging address. Mr. W. D. Buttle, the attentive secretary of the school, next read a pleasing report of its condition and prospects, in which was an expression of /egret at the temporary loss of the services of their esteemed Superintendent, Mr R. Arthur, who had been absent for the last six months, a cmsequence of his severe.accident ajj Newcas.e. Tie number of teachers were : Male. 18; female, 22 -total. 4<>. Officers 9. The total aggregate of scholars on the registers is 412, made up of 235 girls and 207 boys. The young men s and young women's Bible classes number respectively 20 and 33, and are under the charge of Mr John GHttoa and Miss Buddie, and are well conducted. In the musical department of the school Mr Bridson and Mr Ryan have rendered valuable assistance.The officers for the current year are: Messrs B. Arthur, superintendent; J. Mynott, assistant-superintendent; W. U. Buttle and James Battle, secretaries; W.Caley, Q=ai«rnnt-qprretarv A. Henderson, treasurer, £!73 33 6id; leaving a credit balance of £16 Us. The meeting was subsequently addressed. by Rev T. Buddie. Rev R. Taylor, Mr Jonah Martin, and MessrsSalter and Henderson The choir rendered at intervals several selections of sacred, music, and the meeting closed with the benediction.
