Mr R. Arthur held a large fruit sale today. Apples averaged from 2£d to 4^d; pears, 3£d; damsons, 4^d ; plums, ljd ; and good oranges 8s 6d by the case. Messrs. B, Tonks & Co's Mart was also brisk, and the competition spirited. Fruit ranged from 3d to 4|d. Mr Eaton's sale rooms were crowded today. Apples and pears brought from 3d to 4f; very fine sweet Sydney oranges, 12s per case.
