POLICE COURT.—THIS DAY.
(Before R. C. Barstow, Esq., R.M.) STUMBLERS BY THE WAY. John Reilly and John Fitzgibbon were charged with being in alcoholic slavery, and were fined 5s each with costs. POOR AGNES. Agnes Anne Jesser appeared in the dock with a sad countenance, charged with being in a transition state. Agnes, a hale, hearty looking woman ot thirty, said she got a drop too much, but it was a long time since she had been in a like torpid condition. It was shewn that Agnes was drunk on the 7th and 14th March. Prisoner said she had a home to go to now; the old man had returned, and she should keep sober. Fined 20s or 48 hours, and five days imprisonment ; this being her third conviction. PROFANE LANGUAGE. James Braslin, a young man, was charged with using obscene language last night in Chapel-street, near St. Matthew's Church. Prisoner pleaded drunkenness. Sub-Inspector Pardy described the scene, "which was of a shocking character. Prisoner had also been beating his wife. Fined 40s or 14 days' imprisonment. _ LITTLE GUS. Augustus Negus, a neglected child, was ordered to the Industrial Home for five years, to he brought up in the faith of the Church of England.
