PONSONBY WESLEYAN SUNDAYSCHOOL.

Ax entertainment on behalf of the above School was held at the Ponsonby Wesleyan Church last evening, and was well attended and highly appreciated. The previous entertainments which have been got up by the Committee of this School to augurnent their funds having passed off with so much eclat, led to the expectation that this one would also be successful, and the expectation was not disappointed. As the entertainment was prepared expressly for Mothodist Sunday-school purposes, the teachers wisely availed themselves, to a considerable extent.of the assistance of the scholars, which was cheerfully rendered, and with good results. The Rev W.Kirk presided on the occasion and briefly yet pointedly performed the opening services. Along and varied programme was then gone through, consisting of music, songs, recitations, etc. Among the recitations we were much pleased with the following, which were given in a most effective manner: The Bible," by Edward Blorufield; " Pleasures of Hope," by W. Day ; " The Inquiry." by Walter Langsf ord; and the " Dying Child," by Margaret Palmer. The musical selections also, by some of the scholars, were very creditable for such young performers, and we feel bound to congratulate the teachera of this school on having such varied and general ability amongst their scholars. Professor Lambort was all that could be desired in his Harmonium Voluntary. The Misses Woodham and other ladies who kindly assisted, did much towards completing as interesting and varied a programme as we have listened" to for a long time. Tho proceedings closed about 9.30 by singing the National Anthem.
