I YESTERDAY.—C_DNC__tTO__O. [ Prese-."t: -Mr D. A. Tole, Chief Commissioner, in the chair; Messrs Firth, May, Moat, Tonks, and Dr Campbell. ; i School Reserve.—An application from tho I Secretary of the Board of Education, asking for a small section of land, in addition to a former grant, for a school site at Te Awamutu, was granted. j Pokeno Pi.Esn_T_Ri_NCuu-cn.—A petition j from 3_ members of the Presbyterian Church at Pokeno, including the name of Rev Thomas Norrie, relative to a church site, claimed on behalf of tho Presbyterians. Subscriptions to ' the amount of £00 had been gathered, on the . understanding that the church was to be free in a certain sense ; and a church has beeu put up on the reserve, it has sinoe been used as a school And preaching place, against the original views in respect of the place. Mr Tole said he had a letter from Mujor Green which seemed to question. It was rewolved to send the letters to Rev. Mr Norrie, and upon receiving his reply, to transmit the whole to the oonsidera- i tion of the Government. j Surveyor's Report.—The chief surveyor's ■ report of 120,000 acres of land now under survey, ■. also plans andßreturns of the same and others, were received, and it -,vas resolved that No. 2 of the Tangihua block should be offered for sale j by public auction. j UPI-SR Wairoa Lands.—Mr Firth referred to the lands in the north of Upper Wairoa, and stated that much of the land was in a better : condition than people were led to believe, and ; was well suited to email settlers. He had travelled a good deal in the district, and had closely observed it. ~Mr Firth having spoken favourably on these l„nds, and the means of commuui- • cation to the district, the matter dropped. Uruwhao Block. It was decided to offer ; No. 2 of this block, situate in the Matamata district, for public sale.
