The ilour mill and machinery were accidentally destroyed by lire yesterday. A native boy has been arrested on a charge of arson, a fsrn fire lighted by him having caught the mill.

About 20 canoe loads of produce came down from Te Kuiti on Saturday. One of the largest of them capsized aL the Falls near here. The cargo was entirely lost. The wheat realised seven shillings per bushel.

A political meeting will be held at Te Kuiti shortly. The Taupo and Kotorua natives are on the road. They wish to meet Ngatimaniopoto. Letters have been sent by them to Tlewi, Torinui, Waharoa, and Atiria (the Kings sister), who they wish to be present.

Arrived—Helen Denny, barque, from London, with 1200 tons of cargo and 10 passengers. One third of the cargo is for Napier. She left London on the 10th June, ;inrl encountered a scries of heavy gales. After passing the Crozets, which she sighted on the 13th August, she had to bo hove-to four times. She .shipped several seas, and carried away her bulwarks. One of the crew, named iiich Day, an ordinary seaman, fell from the mizzen topmast to the deck. lie was shaken severely, but no bones were broken, and lie wax afterwards able to work.

The Fiery Cross, which ran on the beach at Waitara on Friday last, had her cargo discharged, and has been floated oil" without sustaining any damage.

LYTTELTON, this day DEATH IN A CULLY.

The body of an old man, named Buckley, was found on the hills in a gully two hundred yards fniin the Bridle Path by two boys. Deceased had been in Lyttelton for a few days, and left on the 17 August, .since when nothing lias been seen of him. There was a severe cut on his head. He was lying against a large boulder. Deceased had been in Hospital five months previously.

WANGANUI, this day. FIRE AT WANGANUI.

An empty house belonging to William KelLs was burned down last night. It was insured in the New Zealand Oiiio.) for £400. The policy would have expired in a fortnight. It is supposed to he the work of an incendiary.
