Our Aratapn correspondent writes : — Last night about S o'clock Mr F. Marriner arrested James Fisher at the Mongonni Bluff on his road to Hokianga, and lodged in the Tc Kopura lock-upj this morning. Fisher is charged with stealing a lever watch, chain, meerschaum pipe, and some £12, from George Vanse, of Aratapn, also with breaking into the Te Kopura store, and for stealing from a gum digger. He will be brought before the Bench of Magistrates on Monday next. The latest quotations in the meat department for prime oxen of superior quality are: 4d per lb. for rich roast beef ; boiling be?f 2<l toS^d ; mutton only two prices, fore-quarter. 2d, leg, 3d ; pork, vend, choice lambs, and poultry ; sausages, 4d ; Watling's p«rk pies, 4d each.
