AUCKLAND HIGHWAY VALIDATION.
The Auckland Highway Districts Validation Bill was in committee of the House, for consideration of the differences betAveen the two branches of the Legislation on this Bill.
Mr llees moved that the conference of the Houses should meet again to explain the difficulty. The Legislative Council was under a misapprehension as to the proclamation which he relied on in his reasons for the objections. Mr Justice Gillies had supposed there was a resolution of the Auckland Provincial Council, when no such resolution existed. After some discussion, Messrs Sheehan and Kees were appointed managers of the Upper House, with reference to the proposed amendments. It is understood that the Upper House will give way, if shewn to be in error.
Mr Luslv was present at the middle party caucus, and is one of the Executive, appointed to draw up a programme of future action. The two other Auckland names will transpire shortly.
