MOANATAIRI COMPANY.

(To the Editor of the Star:)

Sir, —A shoit time ago a letter signed " Shareholder " was published ni your columns which at the time appeared to be satisfactorily answered by one of the directors. A short season has put an end to the satisfactory part of the illusion, at all events on my part, but that may perhaps be through my not being able to go to England on a torr, and leave my interests iv hands that will ensure their Ik ing well looked after! !f the management lately is a specimen, I would far rather stay at home to look after my own Interests or sell out first than leave them to the tender mercies of the present " satisfactory " directory. Very satisfactory management certainly, iv he face of the ;tnnouncenient by Mr C J. Stone of how the mine was to be legitimately worked, for the directorsquiotly break out.stuit'from where it was alleged to lie impossible to break down with safety. 1, in common with others, understood the] top block was not to be worked at present. On the face of this to comment on the suppression of daily telegrams from the mine; on the score ot a miserable economy is needless.—l am, i\:e., Pahnkll.

[If the shareholders were informed that shots "will be put into the specimen run at every enisling, in order to keep up the payment of regular dividends, instead ot reserving the whole block for a. final spurt, the practice would not bo objectionable. Very much might be said in it? favour, but the shareholders have most certainly a right to know what policy will be pursued in dealing with the rich lode. Whether the plan of working adopted, is to leave the specimen run alone altogether, or take the stuff out piecemeal, it should not be deviated from without tiie shareholders' prior knowledge.—Ed. E. S.]
