HIGHWAY BOARDS.-NORTH SHORE.
The old proverb that " Heaven helps them that help themselves," is, we learn with pleasure, about to be practically carried out by the Devonport and Lake Boards. Assisted by tbe voluntary contributions of the residents and land owners of the district. Animated by tbe desire to do the useful as well as the ornamental, it is proposed to widen the present road, from the North Shore to and around the Lake, forming, as it then will a most agreeable ride or drive to that picturesque and truly healthy retreat. As it is. the road is so narrow as to incur the serious risk of collisions to vehicles passing each, other, especially at night. The season now is favourable for the work which can be done, we understand at a moderate coßt, and if completed before the Bummer sets in with its numerous visitors, it will be a boon indeed. We wish them evrey suaoess.
