The performance at the Newmarket Hall last night was most excellent, and deserved a crowded house. The short notice and the many counter-attractions offered la3t evening militated against the attendance. The programme as gone through is well worthy of repetition, and if timely notice ef the same be given we have not the slightest doubt but •a full house would result. As we are unaware who are the guilty parties in these cases, we jjmay be presumed to be without any malice in bringing them before the public. It must be obvious to all, and especially to those of our citizens interested in the ship-building trade, that iff bad iron is pilt into our ships* the otherwise good workmanship vviil go for little. Our local smiths should recognise the importance of not allowing tho trade of tho place to suffer by thoir neglect ; if they persist their shortcomings will be visHted on their own heads-
