A number of similar cases were settled, and the following were adjourned until next Court day j—Robert McGregor, Wm. McCullock, and W. Percy. THOBKT/OS V. DE LTAS. Claim, Mr Rees for plaintiff, and Mr J. B. Kussell for defendant. This was a claim on the part of plaintiff, an actor and scene painter, in connection with an engagement at; the Prince of Wales Theatre in February last. Tho defendant denied his responsibility as ilie engagement was made by Mr Sheppardson, who had left Auckland. Mr Thornton deposed that the engagement with Mr Sheppardson was another matter, and had been settled. After some discusiion it was arranged that the case should stand over for a week, in order to some arrangement being come to between the parties. NOKMANBY V. MILLA.IS. Claim, £5 4s. Mr Connell for plaintiff.

Mr J. B. Russell for plaintiff. Mr Nolan, solicitor's clerk, proved witnessing an agreement betwr -n the parties, consenting to submit their ene to Captain Daldy for arbitration. The cr->e was extremely intricate, and arose out of shipping mafcterj, Rob rt Macdonald depos 1 that he end defendant met at Captain Daldy's in order to settle their differences. Captain Daldy having; carefully weighed the matter, awarded £23 153 and 21s costs to plaintiff, but which defendant had since refused to pay.

Defendant in a rambling statement intimatod that he was the greater loser, and had got no money for anybody. Judgment for £24 16s the original claim, and cost £4 18a.

Defendant: I've got no money, and can't pay, Mr Rnssell said that defendant was in constant employment.

Defendant: I can't pay.
