ARRIVAL OF THE AUSTRALIA.
Tho inagniGoant Pacific Mail Liner Australia arrived in harbour early this morning and anchored In tho stream. We are indebted to Mr Lloyd, the purser, for the following report of her progress up the I.oast:—The steamship *ustralia, under command Of Captain Car^ll, and in charge of Captain Thomson, Harbourmaster, Ir.ft her moorings iv Deboroh Bay, Port Chalmers, at 9 a.m., high water, on Wednesday, 31st May, and pmcegderl outside thn (leads, gotting round the bend off the Kaifc (where she grounded on Saturday, 27th May), with the aid of the Geelong, at 10 a m., end anchored outsido the Beads at H a.to. The tug Geelong arrived with mails and psaaongera about 4 30, transhipping thorn with some difficulty Dymemsof a life bo it, owing to ii strong JS.N.W. wind blowing, and heavy tea sotting towards the Heads. This was not accomplished till fully 6 p.m Australia then hovo up, and proceeded atG3'. Kxpenencea moderate XT. and N.W, winds; weather clear. Arrived at Lyttelton at 11 am. June l»t, \t 5.20 received tho mail*; 5.53 got. under weigh, and at 6 p.m. landed pilot. Weather fine Sy.ith fresh N.N E. breeze till midnight. Thence to Cape Pollissier, which was mada at 8 30, dull cloudy w.ather, with ffresfc hea-J wind and lumpy sea. Arrived alongside Wellington wharf at 10.45. Left the wbarf at 3 30, and experienced strong breeze with high northerly swell. Arrived off Napior at 11.15 ; discharged c*n;o, received ru.aiis al3 a passengors, and proceeded at 2.00. Jixperier.ced strong N.N.W. breeze and head sea. look at 3,20 am., and anchored in Auckland Jiajrxrarst 4.19 a.m. Passenger,-— For Auckland : Suloon—From Port Chalmers—Mr nnd Mrs Mackenzie. From Lyttelton - Mr Olliver. Prom Wellington—Mrs Martin, Mr Reid, Messrs Anthony, Wo^an, Wallace, >'rom Napier— Messrs Mann, Wardrop, Brnithwaitlie, Lcwlh, McKeneie, Reay, Captain Birch, Mrs Rhodes, Mr Rhodes, Mrs Locke, and 3 steerige.
