KAIPARA RAILWAY BLUNDERING.
(To the Kditor or the Evening Stab ) gin.—At a meeting r>f Uie settlers of Mount Albwtth other nipbt, the blunders ar-d incapacity of the nnwrnmont in the construction and management ne railways in this province, was made most painfuliyf mnnifpst to all. and tlw proplwying of high officials, nnd thrt' evident management to not let tho Biver-he-ul railway pay. was moat deplorably felt by every individual ot that meeting, '''he settlers were determined beforehand to say nothing of the advantages or r'i»advantaires of .the many line 3 surveyed near thiß oity, or of the favouritism displayed in their choice of what they are pleaf eil to call the best line, lest there should be a further excu'C for a further delay of the extunsion-Hno to Auckland. But do the Government seriously contemplate Tunning the line over the scoria ridpes on the heichtß of Monnt Albert, in preference to the level clay cuntrv available ? This will be tan truck-line to the North, and will Sir Julius Vogel transfer his name to Mure posterity by his incapacity ? For I venture to say that the name of Vopcl, in connexion with this vast blunder will never he forgotten. and every time tho engine comes to a dead .'ton climbing these heights, there will bo a praj or for Vocel the oon, but the lar-t word will be repeated backwards. I am, etc,—St.tti.xh.
