Th^s island as its name denotes, is famous for Its limestone, and is most accessible, being in the fairway of allsteimers and vessels passing to and from Whangarei. Lot B.—MAUNGARuIiJidcK, 21,319 acres, situated at Te Wairoa, ij/Tbe\istrict of Wairoa, Kaipara, County/of Hobson, numbered 311. _ This property deserves the especial attention of saw mill proprietors, timber merchants, capitalists, and others, as being the only available block of Kami Forest land to be obtained in this district, and possessing a large frontage to the Wairoa River, The timber can easily be removed when desired, To facilitate inspection, the block has been subdivided into six large allotments, the boundary linea have all been cut, and the Government road running from the TVairoa River to Hokianga has been felled the full widtn, and stumped and cleared to a width of 30 feet in the centre. Allotment No 1 contains 3190 acres, has 9 frontage of about 3J miles to the Wairoa, River, ani commences about 13 miles from Mangawhare, at which place vessels of 1200 tons are regularly laid alongside the bank of the river. SVom Mangawhare, theV7airoa River is navigable for good-Bized vessels to its junction with the Mangakahia and Wairua, which is a distance of about 60 miles by water from Mangawhare. Part of the land on allotment lis of good agricultural quality, and the whole of it is ■well-watered, and of easy accessibility; its principal value, however, lies in its possessinga large area of standing Kauri Timber, large quantities of which are suitable for spars. This lot immediately adjoins .the well-known Kauri Bush owned by Mr Dargaville; which is a continuation of the Maungaru Forest. Allotment No. 2 contains 2902 acres, and possesses a large proportion of Kami timber, which can be got out to the Wairoa River (to which it nasa frontage) at a small cost. Some ot the land within this lot is exceedingly fertile and well watered. * Allotment No, 6, containing 3907 acres, includeß within its boundaries a large proportion of good agricultural land, and a very large propoition of kauri timber. It also fronts the Wairoa River, and bounds the farm and vineyard of Mr. E. Soff. This lot possesses a frontage of about two miles to a Government Road, which rrnis from the Wairoa Hirer to Hokianga, felled to the full width of one chain and slumped and cleared to a width of 30 feet in the centre. | Allotments Nos. rt and 4. containing, respectively, 2414 and 2396 acres, have frontages to the Mangatiahia River and to the Government Road before mentioned. Both of these lots possess so me of the best standicg Kauri timber in the Province, wnioh can be got out at a comparatively small outlay. The Mangakahia River is navigable for a considerable distanoe to the Northward of the Maungaru Block. ■Allotment No. 5, 6459 acres, has a frontage to the main road between Wairoa and Hokianga. The land is of excellent quality, the forest is open, and is comprised principally of soft woods, The whole is well watered. Lot9.—TAKAPUNA: Lot i, section 6 of villa sites, Lake Takapuna, containing' 1 acre 1 rood 20 perches, has a large frontage to the Lake, and adjoins the property, of W. J. Hurst, Esq.
