WANGANEI COAL.
It is with great gratification we learn of the success of the effort to develop the coal mine at Wangarei. A few working miners from the Thames, strong in faith and in determination, made the attempt, and as we judge from the advertisement in another column have attained success. Ten shillings per ton for coal delivered at navigable water shows success, we think ; and as by Christmas it is anticipated that the wooden (temporary) tramway will be completed from the pit's mouth to the shoot at the water side we are told that a considerable reduction on even the 10s may be expected. We heartily commend this coal to notice. It is excellcnc of itself, and|| it is the product of the pluck of a few brave-hearted, working men. On these grounds, we ask our friends to give it a trial, confident that it will hold its footing when once known. Mr Sloane, of the Queen's Ferry Hotel, is agent.
