THE FOOTBALL MATCH AT NELSON.

Last Satuadry's Nelson Colonist says :—The Anckland team will arrive here on Sunday, and will play on Monday [this] aftercoon, leaving for the North the same evening. A considerable amount of interest is being generally taken in the result of the match, as this will be the first occasion that a JSTeIBon and Anckland team have ever met. The easy victory—sixteen points to one-gained by the Wellington men on Saturday over the Northerners has given our players every tope of success, and we trust that next Monday afternoon they will do their "level best" for the honor of the Club, which has only once been defeated by a foreign team— in 1871 at Wellington. There will be a general practice this afternoon at three o'clock. The fif teeflSs fibally settled by the Club Committee, are Barnicoat (captain), Barnett, Cowie, Galbraith, Hervey, Hodgson, T. Nicolson, G. Ficohon, Metoalf, Monro, Scaif, 1). C. Tennent, Speed, Warnock, and Wells. Emergency men, Kerr and Solton."

The football game commenced at 2.5, weather lovely. We]son kicked off and in two minutes obtained a touch-down. Since then the game has been very even, and no alteration had taken place when goals were exchanged at 2 35. The Auckland team is heavier than Nelson.

3,15 p m. At 2.40, Nelson obtained another force down, and one minute later anotjier. Nothing more was done until the goals were again changed at 3.5. It is a well-contested game.
