District Court
At the District Court to-day in bankruptcy, Richard Onyon and Thomas Henry Sprague passed their last examinations and received discharge. In the case BeDnet v. Cassin in which the jury granted damages of £70 against the defendant last court day for false imprisonment, an application for new trial was made and opposed by Mr McDonald on behalf of the plaintiff, but after a long argument, the Court granted the application, expressing the opinion that damages were excessive.
Mining News. The West Coast tribute crushed 75 tons for 104ozs.
There were no transactions this morning in the sharemarket.
The Bright Smile have started to open out a new level from the shaft, which will only afford 45ft backs, but unable to continue sinking on account of the strength of water. In the. Warden's Court, several application for goldmining licenses at Tairua were granted.
The Inverness tribute had a brilliant yield of 4260zs lOdwts from 31 tons.
