At a meeting of the Britannia Company last night Messrs J. W. Walker, L. Ehrenfried, W. B. Jackson, H. S. Ruddock, and R. T. Douglas were elected directors. The rules were adopted, including one empowering the directors to borrow money on the security of the property. The balance-sheet shewed a balance in bank of £156 Is 3d; calls due £46 7s 6d, against liabilities £17. The election of members of the City Council is going on to-day. There is no excitement. It is anticipated that Gibbons, Wilson, and Butt will be successful. The Manukau is cleaning up to-day, and retorts to-night for a moderate yield. The Golden Calf mine manager, Mr Thorns, resigned last night, and the directors appointed Mr Carson, former manager of the Central Italy, to the vacancy. Sales : Caledonian, 90s ; Gem, 5s 6d. Buyers : Tairua, 555.
