The Cure purpose retorbing this evening, and from the amalgam on hand anticipate fully 600 ozs.
The Long Drive retorted last night and melted to-day 396 ozs. 16 dwts. The yield is much better than was anticipated.
The Watchman tribute crushed lOOlbs. for 59 ozs. 4 dwts. of melted gold.
The Bright Smile is not yet through the reef in the shaft. The string lode is believed to be No. 2 reef; there is a heavy inflow of water from it.
The three-masted schooner Fairlie has gone up the river this afternoon to load 150,000 feet timber for Lyttelton ; the Wild Wave is to follow for the same port with a like quantity.
A Whole Family Poisoned. Dr Payne has been called on to attend a family residing at Moanatairi Creek, who are all showing symptoms of poisoning. They have been ailing for some time, and the cause has been traced to water used by the family obtained from an old tank which was patched up in several places with whitelead.
