Fkom our Poverty Bay Telegrams ft will be seen that the member, for that district is on his way to Auckland bringing with him a petition to the Council asking for an enquiry into the conduct of the sale of the Gisborne township, and the losses sustained by purchasers, owing toirregularities on the part of the Provincial Go vernment authorities. It is rather a striking circumstance that there is at the same time in connection, with this affair, a petition before the Council to be considered tomorrow, from Mr Lusk, the then 'Provincial Secretary and in charge of the sale, askin.g that he also should be recouped losses incurred through the same irregularities. Between them we have no doubt the ptfor unfortunate province will have to! pay the p^.per.
