We understand that a petition or memorial is going the rounds in Paruell, soliciting the signatures of those who like the stink of the soap factory. As some people sign anything that is put before them, we have no doubt many who are indifferent on the subject will lend thu3 their aid to craelly thwart the efforts of those who are daily and nightly half-stifled by the abominable smell, lliere are some dirty people who really enjoy vilo smells, but we do trust that no one will express a desire to have this death-dealing operation of boiling tallow continued amidst a dense population when it can be as well done in the country as is compelled in the case of all others. The memorial is carried about by a paid hand who works in the factory, and who once appended his name to a protest against the thing, now lying before us. He has tasted tallow and likes it, and it will be interesting to similarly analyse the names appended to the document and the several motives that have influenced the signing.
