The Hon. Dr. Pollen
The Hon. Dr. Kollen has been gazetted President of the Execmtive Council of New Zealand. An Order of the Council provides that the expenditure on the goldh'elds in the Province of Auckland shall be regulated by Act passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council. Gold Export. The total value of sold exported from New Zealand Up to 3lst March, 1575, is £29,908,193; for last quarter, 97,681 ozs., valued at £391,177. Otago is highest;, yielding £134,835 ; Nelson, £100,471 ; Westland, £79,114 ; Auckland, £73,991 ; Marlborough, £27,760. Tenders for Mail Services. The following are the accepted tenders for the performance of mail services between the undermentioned postal districts, for 1875, at per annum : — Auckland, Newton, and Ponsonby—P. Quick, £50.

It is understood that Mr Vogel will leave London for New Zealand in time to join the mail steamer at Brindisi, on the fourteenth May. That mail will be due at Wellington on the ninth of July. At latest dates matters were progressing satisfactorily for the San Francisco mail. The contract was also arranged for the submarine cable to connect New Zealand with New South Wales, and possibly also with Fiji. Extensive alterations are taking place in the House of Representatives.
