The Crown Princess cut specimen leader, thirty feet from the chamber, "six inches through, and obtained six ounces of picked stone from the leader, which looks well.
City of London. The City of London broke through to the 270 feet level in the Queen of Beauty claim to-day on the coarse of the reef. A contract has been let subject to approval at 50s per foot. The Grolden Hill tribute crushed 30 tons for 44. ozs 15 dwts. Tbe Moanatairi fortnight's yield is 3120z5. from 800 tons reduced. Ohinemuri Trial Crushing. The Ohinemuri prospectors crushing is not finished. From the first lot of 2 tons they Lave already llozs lOdwts. amalgam, and headings are still to be treated. The second lot is now going through. It shews gold, but does not appear so rich as the last lot. Sale of Tairua Shares. 153 shares in the Prospectors' Claim, Tairua, were to-day purchased by Mr Jackson, of Tairua, for £360. I have been shewn the transfers, Arrangements are being made to-d-ay for getting up tools, and work starts ■on Tuesday putting in drive and sinking a shaft to meet it.
Sir George Grey is to receive a deputation in re Tairua Goldfield this afaernoon. Several people have waited on him privately this foronoon, but no public business has been transacted. In compnny with Mr Tole and the Mining Inspector he has been reading up the Acts, and making himself acquainted with the position of affairs here.
