At a meeting of the Otago shareholders in the New Zealand Shipping Company, the chairman Btated that it was proposed to float £100 000 debentures in London. Arrangements had been made to build five new iron vessels. _; , . Salmon for New Zealand. Interesting correspondence between the Superintendent and persons m England relative to the salmon ova is published. Mr Backland strongly advocates continuing experiments and sending constant supplies of ova to New Zealand. . The Makura has cleared for London with a cargo valued at £101,740, o this4,4ol bales wool is valued at £100,800.. Up to date 46,471 bales wool have been shipped for home, 1874-5 season. . Mr J. L. Gillies, M.H.R., for W«k<maiti, resigned his seat. Mr Geo. McLean is likely to be returned unopposed. Ngaro and Earl of Lynne are now much fancied for the Dunedin Cup.
